During the late 1980s, Lynch met the television producer Mark Frost and they decided to start working together on a project that never got off the ground. It was whilst they were talking in a coffee shop that Lynch and Frost both had the idea of a corpse washing up on the shore of a lake, and using this image as a basis subsequently set about on their third project, which they initially named Northwest Passage but which would eventually come to fruition as the television series Twin Peaks.
